Thank you to the 2,874 NCAR members who have acted on NAR's Call for Action. That is a statewide response rate of 10.7%.
The national average rate is 11.5%. Please act today if you have not already.
The bill will protect small business owners and REALTORS® from frivolous lawsuits filed by patent trolls.
Homeownership rate on decline
The number of Americans who own their homes has declined to 63.4%, the lowest rate since 1967. NAR published a report that describes the societal benefits of homeownership, including the impact on educational achievement and community crime rates. Read the report or get information from NAR's Home Ownership Matters resource page.

NCAR successfully lobbies on two bills passed this week
The General Assembly sent Landlord/Tenant Foreclosure and Eviction Changes to the Governor for his signature this week. This legislation will clarify the summary ejectment process for a foreclosure. Both landlord and tenant will better understand their status and required actions as a result of this bill.
In another bill, Study Subdivision Streets, the legislature requires the Department of Transportation to research and report back on community streets without proper upkeep. NC REALTORS® need safe and well-maintained streets in order for properties to remain marketable.
August talking points on national issues
Congress has recessed and will resume work on September 8. During August Federal Political Coordinators will talk with their members of Congress on the issues below. Be sure to educate yourself on these important issues:
the Innovation Act to stop patent trolls,
the need to protect 1031 like-kind exchanges and
how Waters Of The US (WOTUS) impairs private property rights.
